Dan’s Winter Warmer
1 gallon fresh apple cider
6 cinnamon sticks, plus extras for garnish
3 quarter inch thick slices of fresh ginger, smashed
1 whole star anise
bourbon, we use Maker’s Mark
Bring cider to a simmer, lower heat and add cinnamon sticks, ginger and anise. Steep for 15 minutes. Strain. You can also hold over in a crockpot fro serving at a party.
Pour 1 1/2 ounces of bourbon into a mug. Ladle hot cider over bourbon and serve garnished with a cinnamon stick.
